Why a JEEP WRANGLER???

I am from Oregon and until 1996 I had never driven a Jeep. Then in 1996 I got a 1987 Jeep Cherokee Chief (4.0L, 4x4, loaded) It was great! I drove thru a road closure due to high water over the roadway, and watched as a car almost washed away. I decided right then NEVER AGAIN will I own anyting less than a 4x4 S.U.V.

Then this last year I started to really crave a CJ or a Wrangler. I wanted something to tinker and play with. I started saving my money to someday be able to get an old CJ5 or something and build it up. I started following leads on the internet. But I always would fall a few $$ short or a few days to late.

Then the Cherokee really started needing some major reapirs. I took my wife out to look at used Grand Cherokees and Cherokee sports. They were just to much! We looked at a few used Wranglers and they also were to much. A Dream Lost! But No! We looked at a 1999 Wrangler and the price was cheaper than the used ones. Wow! We then did some shopping.

We decided what we wanted and set out to get a dealer to find or order us the Jeep we wanted. Well they couldn't get us the Jeep we wanted. But they had a late model 98 with the 99 upgrades on it for less then the 99's. Seems the previous owner drove it home and saw the ads for the 99 Grand Chreokees and had to have one. So it had only 4400 miles on it! WOW! THE DREAM HAS COME TRUE!

I don't do very much tinkering now, but in about 6 years when I get this paid off (and my daughter gets this one) I can get another one.

06/24/2006 Just hit the 105,000 mark and got the tune up and stuff done. I plan on taking some pictures when we travel this summer so I will post them when we get done.
